Israeli Drone Strike in Southern Lebanon Leaves Two Injured

(MENAFN) Two individuals sustained injuries on Tuesday following an Israeli drone attack in southern Lebanon, marking another breach of the existing ceasefire, according to Lebanese media reports.

The strike hit a vehicle that was parked close to the Harouf Municipality building, resulting in injuries to a municipal council member and a civilian, as reported by a news agency. The two individuals were reportedly in the process of preparing bread distribution for local residents in the town when the attack occurred, according to the same source.

Separately, Israeli warplanes carried out additional air raids on al-Shihabiya in the Tyre region and the Rihan Heights in the Jezzine area. Artillery fire was also reported in the Al-Arid neighborhood of Dibbin, located in the Marjayoun district, according to the news agency. At the time of reporting, no casualty figures had been confirmed for these incidents.

Earlier in the morning, Israeli aircraft launched two missiles targeting a site in the al-Maashouq area near al-Wahda University on the outskirts of Tyre. In addition, several residential houses in the al-Qalaa area between Harouf and Doueir were struck by shelling.

These developments occurred despite the US-brokered ceasefire announced on April 17, which was later extended until early July.

According to Lebanese officials, Israeli strikes in Lebanon since March 2 have resulted in nearly 3,000 deaths, over 9,000 injuries, and the displacement of more than 1.6 million people—approximately one-fifth of the country’s population.
