The latest news from the Middle East
Provided by AGPAs stated by reports, Pakistan’s Foreign Minister Ishaq Dar spoke with Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi in a phone call that centered on regional developments and Islamabad’s mediation efforts.
Pakistan’s Foreign Ministry said the conversation addressed broader attempts to promote peace and stability, with Dar reaffirming that dialogue and diplomacy remain the only viable path toward resolving disputes and achieving long-term regional stability.
According to general accounts, Araghchi welcomed Pakistan’s role, describing its mediation efforts as constructive and sincere in facilitating communication between the involved parties.
The talks come shortly after Iran said it was reviewing a response from the United States regarding a revised proposal aimed at ending the conflict. As stated by reports, Iranian officials indicated that their latest proposal prioritizes achieving a permanent ceasefire, while postponing discussions on nuclear-related issues to a later stage.
Sources familiar with the mediation process said that the US response, delivered through Pakistani channels, linked progress on a ceasefire to parallel negotiations on Iran’s nuclear program.
As stated by reports, Pakistan previously hosted initial rounds of indirect talks between the two sides, although those discussions did not produce a final agreement.
