Yemeni Government Condemns Houthi Military Actions Supporting Iran
According to official statements, potential repercussions for Yemen include threats to national security, disruption of supply chains, and rising food and energy prices. The warning follows the Houthis’ announcement earlier in the day of their first ballistic missile strike targeting military sites in southern Israel.
“The decision of war and peace is an exclusive sovereign right of the Yemeni state and its constitutional institutions, and any military actions outside this framework are considered unlawful acts of aggression, with full responsibility borne by their perpetrators and supporters,” the government said.
Authorities emphasized that they “will not hesitate to fulfill its responsibilities” to protect civilians, preserve national sovereignty, and prevent Yemen from being exploited as a platform for regional or international threats.
The statement also urged the international community to “take a firm stance against repeated Iranian violations of Yemeni sovereignty” and to “exert maximum pressure on the terrorist Houthi militias,” while supporting the government’s efforts to assert control over the entire country.
These developments occur amid the ongoing US-Israeli air campaign against Iran, which began on Feb. 28 and has killed over 1,340 people, including Iran’s Supreme Leader at the time, Ali Khamenei. In retaliation, Iran has launched multiple drone and missile strikes targeting Israel, Jordan, Iraq, and Gulf states hosting US military facilities, resulting in casualties, infrastructure damage, and global market and aviation disruptions.
