Netanyahu, Trump Set to Meet on Iran Negotiations

(MENAFN) Benjamin Netanyahu will hold critical discussions with US President Donald Trump at the White House Wednesday, focusing on Tehran negotiations, the Israeli Prime Minister's office confirmed.

In a statement posted to X, the American social media platform, Netanyahu's office outlined Israel's demands for any Iranian accord: "The Prime Minister believes any negotiations must include limitations on ballistic missiles and a halting of the support for the Iranian axis,"

The scheduled meeting follows Friday's resumption of indirect US-Iran nuclear diplomacy after weeks of crisis marked by Trump's military strike warnings against the Islamic Republic.

Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi characterized the Oman-mediated discussions as a "good start," indicating potential for progress contingent on breaking through mutual suspicion. He confirmed both parties agreed to maintain the diplomatic process, with possibilities for reconvening in Muscat at an undetermined future date.

However, Araghchi drew a firm red line on Tehran's ballistic arsenal, declaring Iran's missile program non-negotiable currently or prospectively, framing it as a "defensive matter."

The diplomatic developments signal a potential thaw in US-Iranian relations amid Netanyahu's push for comprehensive restrictions on Tehran's military capabilities and regional proxy support.
