Iran's President Accuses Netanyahu of Misleading U.S.
During a conversation with conservative U.S. journalist, broadcast on Monday, Pezeshkian claimed that Netanyahu began promoting this idea well before becoming prime minister in 1996.
According to Pezeshkian, “It was Netanyahu since 1984 who has created this false mentality that Iran seeks a nuclear bomb,” referencing Netanyahu’s earlier position as Israel’s representative to the United Nations.
He went on to claim that Netanyahu has consistently influenced every U.S. president since then, planting the notion that Iran is pursuing nuclear weapons.
Pezeshkian emphasized that Tehran has never worked toward building such a weapon, stating that this claim runs counter to a “religious decree… issued by Iran’s supreme leader.”
He also pointed out that the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA) has verified that Iran is not engaged in developing nuclear arms.
In addition, Pezeshkian accused Israel of deliberately undermining diplomatic efforts between Iran and the United States concerning Tehran’s nuclear activities.
He pointed to a forceful Israeli attack on June 13 targeting Iran’s nuclear facilities, military assets, and high-ranking officials, suggesting the move was intended to sabotage ongoing talks.
